Stoke-on Trent or “Six Towns” is made up of six separate towns – Tunstall, Hanley, Burslem, Stoke, Fenton and Longton- and is affectionately known as “The Potteries.” This city is home to some of the world’s finest ceramic manufacturers including Wedgewood and Spode.
Today they both have Visitor Centres with craft demonstrations, factory outlet shops, factory tours and museums showing the glory days of pottery making in The Potteries. A visit to the museum collections is a must for every tourist.
In the evening take advantage of the many award-winning restaurants in Stoke-on–Trent and don’t forget to sample the famous Staffordshire Oatcakes from a local oatcake baker!
